Must-Have Affordable Streetwear Items

by Hailey
November 1, 2020

Hi everyone and welcome back to another episode of “Hailey loves to talk about comfy clothes!!” I appreciate you being here. This week it’s all about streetwear, aka my favorite style of clothes to wear.

The cool thing about streetwear is that there are some really affordable options out there that don’t require you to spend $500 just to look ~comfy~. So I decided to put together a list of my favorite must-have affordable streetwear items for you to explore.

Before we get started, I want to say that everyone has their own definition of streetwear. Some people define it as comfy and casual style while some people define it as what you see on the streets during NYFW (anti-fashion, if you will).

But it really doesn’t matter how anyone defines it because fashion has no rules. And you can do whatever/wear whatever you want! Keep reading to see my interpretation of streetwear along with the must-have items you need in your wardrobe.

1. graphic tees

Graphic tees are the perfect addition to any streetwear look. They add a little personality to your wardrobe and are oftentimes a great conversation starter. Fun fact: I own over 40 graphic tees. Yes, I have a problem. No, I won’t be doing anything about it.

If you’re looking for a fun way to add some ~spice~ to your wardrobe then graphic tees are perfect for you. The t-shirt on the left is from Steven Rhodes and the t-shirt on the right is from ASOS. Check out some of my other faves below!

2. Chunky boots

Doc Marten Leona
Heeled Combat Boots

I can’t live without these boots. Chunky boots are key for any wardrobe because not only do they elevate your style, but they elevate your legs girl! I’m 5′ 3″, definitely not super short but when I put on either of these bad boys I feel like I’m 6′ tall.

The boots on the left are Doc Martens (tagged below) and the ones on the right are…I’m actually not sure (I got them many moons ago).

However, the Doc Martens are my fave right now because they’re durable AF and have the perfect platform. Check out some other cool chunky boot styles below!

3. sneakers

Nike Zoom 2K
Adidas Falcon Sneaker

If you know me, you know I love a good sneaker. Sneakers are cute, comfortable, and are the perfect way to top off any streetwear look. The above are my two favorites right now and I’ve tagged them below for you to take a look!

A neutral shoe, like the two above, is the best choice for some versatility but I’ve tagged some other moderately colorful sneakers for any bold people out there. And click here to see some other cool sneaker options as well.

4. long-sleeve crewneck

HM Long Sleeve Crewneck
HM Black Tshirt

Long-sleeve crewnecks are new territory for me. If it’s chilly, I usually just wear t-shirts and layer from there! I only own one right now (shocking) which I bought from H&M a couple of weeks ago (on the left).

The outfit on the right is what I typically wear aka a t-shirt layered with a long sleeve shirt underneath. Both give similar vibes and are sure to amp up your streetwear. See below for some other awesome long-sleeve crewnecks that I love!

5. leather jacket

Thrifted Leather Jacket
ASOS Leather Jacket

Leather trend coats and jackets are trending now more than ever this season! They’ll be sure to keep you warmish all while looking like a badass walking down the street. The cool thing about leather jackets is that they come in so many different styles that you can stock up on more than just one for different uses!

For example, I would wear a leather trench coat (left) as outerwear while I would wear a regular leather jacket (right) as a part of my outfit, even if I’m inside. I’m not helping your shopping addiction, am I? Oops.

The left is thrifted (one of my favorite finds) and the right is from ASOS. See below for some other awesome leather jackets you need in your closet!

6. ripped denim

Levis Wedgie Ripped JeNA
American Eagle Mom Jeans

Ahhh, yes. Ripped jeans. They have evolved quite a lot over the years! What’s trending right now is lightly ripped in a straight-legged or mom jean fit (nothing super skinny).

The two above are my favorite right now with the left being from Levi’s and the right from American Eagle. Ripped jeans are the perfect addition to any streetwear style and a must-have for any closet, check out some of my other favorites below!

7. denim jacket

Levis Denim Jacket
Old Navy Denim Jacket

Every woman needs a denim jacket in their life. Or two. Hell, maybe even three (@ me)! The first one is Levis and was thrifted for $3 (yes, you read that right). The second I bought from Old Navy a couple of years back.

Denim jackets are perfect for streetwear, especially during the fall when the weather gets cooler. See below for some other cute denim jackets!

8. sweatpants

Gray Champion Sweatpants
Black Champion Sweatpants

If you asked me a few years ago, I would scoff at wearing sweatpants in public (this was pre-comfy Hailey). But now they’re a consistent part of my wardrobe! There are good sweatpants and bad sweatpants in my opinion. I personally prefer joggers over any other kind.

These Champion ones above are my favorite and they fit me like a glove (even though they are technically men’s). I got them from Amazon, which you can find here. See below for some other sweatpants that are on my wishlist right now!

Final Thoughts

Streetwear looks are becoming increasingly popular throughout the years because people are starting to value cute comfort over anything else! If you’re looking to up your streetwear game, make sure to grab some of the products mentioned above for some must-have streetwear staple items.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. As always, I appreciate you, and love you! Leave a comment below or write to me here with any more thoughts. Toodalooo and see you next week!

I definitely need to expand my wardrobe after reading this! I’ve always wanted to get a leather jacket, but have never had the confidence to buy one. This might have just given me that boost!

Definitely agree with these! And don’t worry I have just as many graphic T’s in my closet too. Love it with ripped jeans for model off duty look.
