The Best Winter Sweaters Under $100

If I’m being honest, my style has shifted a lot over the years. I’ve gone from quite girly to more of a relaxed, street style type of vibe. I love this because comfort is key for me. However, one thing that has not changed over the years is my love for a good comfy, cozy sweater. 

Sweaters are awesome because you can dress them up or down and basically do whatever you want with them. Plus, they keep you warm obvi. It’s a win-win. 

For this article, I decided to break down my most worn sweater categories and share with you the cutest and comfiest sweaters that you can wear this winter. Keep reading for more!

Warm sweaters

First up, we have the warm sweater category. I have a love-hate relationship with warm sweaters tbh. Sometimes they are too bulky and I hate to say it, but they’re too warm. I say that because in NYC, your body temperature rises dramatically when you go into the subway station (it’s underground, so a lot of heat obviously) or if you’re walking around the city and generating a lot of body heat. You definitely have to be super careful about what you’re wearing under your coat.

I usually don’t layer warm sweaters with anything because if I do, I will die of overheating. And I also try to avoid super-chunky knit sweaters due to the reasons above and because they’re so bulky. 

The sweaters I’ve listed below have made the cut in terms of being super flattering, comfortable, and easy on your wallet. My favorite thing about all of these sweaters is the range of beautiful colors, as I’m a sucker for some neutral/earth tone colors (obviously). 

Lightweight Sweaters

Ahh, this is a little bit more up my alley. Lightweight sweaters are where it’s at for me because you can do so much with them. More specifically, you can layer the shit out of them with a bunch of different things like scarves, turtlenecks, and even other accessories. 

The lightweight sweaters that I picked out below are a variety of colors, styles, and fabrics but all in all, they’re the perfect way to stay decently warm this winter. Lightweight sweaters are definitely more fashionable than functional, but that’s not the say you can’t make them functional by doing some of the things I mentioned above like layering.

Fashionable Cardigans

Now, this is really where fashion and function come into play. These cardigans will provide you some warmth and omg, aren’t they cute? Cardigans have made a comeback this year, not that they were ever gone but people are styling them very differently than before.

Before, people would use cardigans as a layering item. Now, people are wearing them just as is! Which I LOVE. But it definitely will not help you if you want to be super warm. However if you’re like me and you still like to layer your cardigans then I have a bunch of options for that as well listed below! 

Honorable mention: Sweatshirts

Okay listen, I am fully aware of the difference between sweatshirts and sweaters. But for the majority of my life I got them very confused (it’s okay, you can laugh). And since both play a significant role in my winter wardrobe, I figured why not include a section on the best sweatshirts under $100 as well!

Although I love a good sweater, the casual dresser in me definitely gravitates more towards sweatshirts especially when I want something super comfy and super warm. My personal favorite is the Glossier hoodie which I am obsessed with. It is so freaking warm and it fits perfectly oversized on me. I bought it in a size small, for anyone who is interested!

Final Thoughts

Winter is personally one of my favorite times for fashion because there is so much you can do! I hope these suggestions were able to inspire you and allow you to look forward to the winter season. Not everything about winter is great (hello seasonal depression) but there’s always a little fun in being able to dress up/down and feel great about what you’re wearing.
