My Honest Murad Clarifying Cleanser Review: Is It Worth The Price?

Growing up, I always had pretty bad skin. It was typical teenage hormonal acne, but as I got older it surprisingly got worse. This was a result of a few things including a previously unhealthy diet (I like cheese a little too much) and overall hormones. More specifically, I was struggling with cystic acne, which is when my self-esteem took a real hit.

I’ve tried countless over-the-counter acne treatments and facewash until I finally found my holy grail product from Murad. This cleanser is an absolute game-changer and I know you’re curious about it, which is why you’re here! Here’s a little about my skin so you’re able to compare yours to mine.

I have combination skin that leans a little more oily than dry. It really depends on the season, meaning that during the winter my face is drier and in other seasons it’s more oily. But overall, I have combination skin.

Keep in mind that the Murad Clarifying Cleanser is specifically created for oily, combination, and/or sensitive skin. So if you have super dry skin, this may not be for you. But if you have any of the other skin types I mentioned above, then this cleanser should work great for you!

What Are The Active Ingredients in Murad’s Clarifying Cleanser?

Let’s talk quickly about ingredients so you actually know what’s going on your face before we dive into the rest of the Murad Clarifying Cleanser review.

This cleanser contains two different types of salicylic acid, which is why it’s so great for acne-prone people, like myself. The first salicylic acid starts treating any acne you have immediately upon application, while the second salicylic acid continues to treat your skin even after you’ve rinsed the product off.

There is also green tea extract which helps soothe and calm the skin, especially if you have any redness.

How Do You Use Murad’s Clarifying Cleanser?

Now that we have the ingredients covered, let’s talk about how to use this cleanser.

It’s pretty straightforward and simple. First, you should know that this cleanser comes in a couple of different-sized bottles. I purchased the largest one aka the “value size” which comes in a pump. The smaller size comes in a squeeze bottle.

When I use this cleanser, I pump a little bit larger than a pea-sized drop into my hand. Then, I lather it under some water and wash my face for about 30 seconds in circular motions, always moving upward.

The consistency is gel-like, transparent, and there is no smell. Fragrance-free skincare products are of the utmost importance to me as my skin is very sensitive. So if you have sensitive skin like me, that’s just another reason to try this out.

PS, the 16.9oz bottle (value size) lasted me from March-September. I was totally not expecting it to last that long but it did. A little definitely goes a long way, so keep that in mind.

What Does A Clarifying Cleanser Do?

A clarifying cleanser helps eliminate excess oil, purify your poles, clear current acne, as well as prevent future breakouts. All great stuff for your skin!

The moral of the story, a clarifying cleanser is multi-functional and helps keep your skin clean and clear. Don’t we all want that?!

How Often Should You Use A Clarifying Cleanser?

You should keep your skincare routine as consistent as possible. This means using the same products consistently throughout your routine. There are really no rules on how often you should use a clarifying cleanser, but you should be washing your face twice a day during the morning and night.

I use this cleanser in the morning and when I’m getting ready for bed. I cleanse once in the morning and twice at night in order to make sure all my makeup from the day is completely off my face.

Let’s Be Honest, Does Murad’s Clarifying Cleanser Work?

Yes! It gets the job done and then some. Make sure you give it a couple of weeks for your skin to adjust and trust me, you will start seeing remarkable changes in your skin, especially if you struggle with acne.

How Much Does It Cost?

This is why I decided to write this review. This cleanser cannot be bought at the drugstore and does not come cheap. But, I do think it is well worth the money.

The price of this cleanser ranges from roughly $32-$60, depending on the size you want and also where you buy it.
