A Little About My Dark Circles

I am someone who definitely has noticeable dark circles. I could get a full 8 hours of sleep, drink my body weight in water, and not stress about anything in this world and someone will always ask me “are you okay? You look really tired”.

It’s something I’ve learned not to care about but if you’re reading this, I’m sure you can relate on a certain level. Regardless, it’s still annoying so I always count on concealer to give me a little pick me up when I’m not feeling my best!

The 8 Best Drugstore Concealers For Dark Circles

Below I’ve narrowed down the 6 best drugstores concealer for dark circles. Here is the best of the best (in no particular order) – including what concealer I’ve been using the longest.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

This is one of the most popular drugstore concealers that is loved by many. The Instant Age Rewind concealer is one of my favs because it’s buildable and can be morphed from natural to glam in an instant.

This concealer not only helps cover dark circles, but it helps cover blemishes as well. It’s oil-free, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and also works well with sensitive skin. It comes in 18 shades, which you can also use for highlighting and contouring.

The applicator of the concealer is a sponge tip that you twist up to get more product. It can get a little messy when you’ve been using it for a while but it works great. I recommend making sure you keep track of the little plastic cap that comes with it to make sure it doesn’t dry out!

E.L.F. Hydrating Camo Concealer

I was using the E.L.F. Hydrating Camo concealer for the longest time! It’s been compared as a Tarte Shape Tape dupe, which I completely agree with. The only reason I am not using it anymore is that I found something that is a little lighter coverage, which I prefer (keep reading to see which concealer I’m talking about!)

This is a full-coverage, hydrating concealer with a satin finish. If you set it with powder, it won’t crease throughout the day. It comes in 25 shades and is also 100% vegan and cruelty-free. I’ve always loved E.l.F. so much for these reasons! They are hands-down one of the best drugstore makeup brands.

One of my favorite things about this concealer is the applicator. I’m such a sucker for a big doe foot applicator. It puts the perfect amount of product on with each swipe. 10/10 would recommend!

NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Concealer

NYX is one of the best drugstore makeup brands and their Can’t Stop Won’t Stop concealer shows us all why. This is a 24hr wear concealer (who is wearing concealer for 24 hours? like what?) that is lightweight and helps cover dark circles.

This concealer is full coverage and lightweight with a matte finish. It’s also waterproof, which I have not been able to test myself so I can’t attest to that. But who knows! Take a swim and let me know. It’s also cruelty-free and has a vegan formula, meaning there are no animal-derived ingredients or by-products.

The NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop concealer comes in 24 shades and has an angled doe-foot applicator for easy application.

L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer

I’m not super familiar with L.A. Girl beyond their HD Pro Concealer, but if the rest of their products are anything like this one then they must be great. This concealer was a trending topic a few years ago throughout the beauty community and although its hype has since died down, I still believe it’s one of the best drugstore concealers for dark circles. Hands. Down.

This concealer is lightweight and long-wearing with a crease-free formula. It’s also buildable so you can go from light to full coverage at your discretion. It’s also a fantastic concealer for covering acne!

It comes in 42 shades, which include color-correcting shades. The applicator is a brush, which I’m not obsessed with because as I mentioned I appreciate a doe foot applicator. But it’s not that bad – just takes some getting used to!

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

Ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between. This. Is. It. Hands down my favorite concealer on this planet that I’ve been using for almost a year now! This is my favorite concealer because it’s lightweight and gives a wonderfully natural look.

Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer is fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and is oil-free so it definitely won’t clog any pores! It also comes in 18 shades.

This concealer has a doe foot applicator. I wish it was a little bit bigger than what it is, but nevertheless, I love a doe-foot applicator! It applies the product smoothly and effortlessly, which is why I love it so much.

NYX HD Concealer

Another NYX favorite of mine for having one of the best drugstore concealer for dark circles! This HD concealer is a cult classic for obvious reasons. It effortlessly conceals dark circles while giving a medium coverage finish. Because I’m not a big fan of full coverage concealers, this one worked very well for me during the time I was using it!

If you’re looking for a full coverage look, you can build this concealer. It is also non-comedogenic and never looks cakey. The formula is lightweight and it is cruelty-free.

This concealer has a small doe foot applicator that makes for easy application. Honestly, I can’t choose between the two NYX concealers because they’re both so great. But if it came down to it, I’d probably choose this one.

How To Apply Concealer On Your Dark Circles

If you’re a newbie to makeup, or you’re simply interested in trying a new application method, let me tell you to know I apply concealer on my dark circles. It’s nothing special, but this method is what has worked the best for me for years.

I put 3-4 dots of concealer under each eye in an upward motion. Then, I take a beauty blender like this one, and I tap my undereye (don’t swipe) under it is all blended in. My one piece of advice is to try and not let it sit for too long or it may dry down before you can blend.

Color Concealers – Which Is Best For Dark Circles?

I’m sure you’ve heard of color-correcting concealers. If you haven’t, they are essentially concealers that combat color imperfections on your face, like redness or dark circles. Whatever color your imperfection is, the opposite on the color wheel is what you want to correct it with. A majority of the concealers mentioned above offer color-correcting options!

So when it comes to dark circles, you will want an orange/peach/pink tone to cancel out dark circles. That’s because dark circles typically have blue undertones (even if you can’t see it).

How Can You Cover Dark Circles Without Concealer?

Besides color-correcting, there is not much you can do. Sometimes dark circles come from genetics or other environmental stressors. My advice is fairly standard, but sure you’re getting a full night’s rest and drinking plenty of water! It can be hard, but it’s important not just for your skin but for your health as well.

I also encourage you to embrace whatever “flaws” you may have. I used the word “imperfection” a few times in this article, but it’s not really a word I believe it. We are all human. We are not Instagram or Facetune filters. And if anyone ever has anything bad to say about your “flaws”, don’t take it personally because it’s simply a reflection of themselves. And also don’t be afraid to tell them to shove it 馃檪

Let’s Wrap It Up

That’s all folks! The 6 best drugstore concealer for dark circles. I’ve tested all of these concealers throughout the years and these are definitely the best of the best.
