An Honest Billie Razor Review: Is It Worth The Hype?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always used men’s razors. I find that I get a closer shave with them, causing my hair to grow in slower and my skin to stay smoother, longer. Plus, they’re generally cheaper than women’s razors (thanks to pink tax). Recently I learned about Billie, which is a subscription razor service that provides you with all the essential shaving items (and more) while also sending you new refill blades as often as you need them. As someone who notoriously forgets to replace their razor (I know..not good), I figured I’d give it a try, which is why I’m so excited to bring you my Billie Razor Review.

What’s Included In A Billie Subscription?
When you sign up for Billie, you have a couple of options for what you want to choose for your initial order.
The first option Billie offers is a Razor Starter Kit ($10), which includes a handle, magnetic holder, and two blades. The handle is available in 6 super cute colors, so you can customize it to your liking! I chose my razor in the color Dream Pop which is a mix of lilac, fushia, and a touch of blue. This is the kit that I ended up purchasing, along with Billie’s Shave Cream.
Your second option is to purchase their Smooth Operator Deluxe Start Kit, ya know, if you’re feeling a little fancy. This $35 kit comes with the razor, 4 razor refills, Shave Cream, and Dry-Bye Body lotion to ensure the smoothest shave possible.
After you choose which kit you want, you choose how often you want to receive new blades. They are only $10 for 4 blades, which is a freakin’ steal if you ask me.
Not only does Billie sell razors but they sell a bunch of other accessories and body products as well including a Razor Travel Case, Floof Dry Shampoo, and Wonder Wipes to name a few. Check out all their other products below!
First Impressions
Now let’s jump into my Billie razor review.
When I first received my Billie products, I couldn’t help but notice how cute the packaging is! It came in a white box with simplistic design elements that made for a subtle, yet statement-making introduction. I currently work in brand strategy where I constantly provide brands with ways to improve their business, including packaging strategies, so to say I’m a little bit of a critic would be an understatement. But I was seriously impressed with Billie’s packaging!
My only critique would be that Billie needs to make it clear what package is recyclable or not. They do use a little too much plastic for my liking and I was unsure if the box it was shipped in was recyclable.
Inside my package, I found a smaller box containing my new razor, and a big bag containing my shaving cream, and other goodies that came with my starter kit including a magnetic holder and two blades.
Moving onto the performance of this razor. When I used my new Billie razor to shave my legs, I was going on about 2 weeks of no shaving so I really could put it to the test. My hair is fairly thin, and blonde (I’m naturally a light brunette) so to say my legs were a little *fuzzy* would be an understatement.
First, lathered up my legs with the Shave Cream (which I’ll touch more on in a bit) and put the razor right to the test. I was shocked at how smooth my legs felt even after one swipe! I got through my legs super quick, went over my knees without any knicks or cuts, and was super happy in general with the performance of the razor.
The cool thing about Billie razors is that they are optimized for the way that women shave meaning the razor has rounded edges which provides more comfort when shaving tighter areas (like your knees!) I don’t know about you, but I’ve cut up my knees one too many times with a fresh razor. So the fact that I had no injuries was seriously impressive.
However, there was one thing I wasn’t too fond of when using this razor. You know I’ll always be honest in my articles and it’s no different for this Billie Razor Review! So let’s quickly talk about one thing I did not like when using my Billie razor and Shave Cream.
My only gripe with my Billie razor is how the charcoal shave soap that surrounds the razor and the Shave Cream work together. While it performs well and leaves my legs feeling super smooth, I didn’t love how goopy the razor became when using it with the Shave Cream. I kept needing to rinse it off more often than I would like. The next time I shaved my legs without the Shave Cream and the razor was much less goopy, so I don’t think I’ll be using the Shave Cream any longer (although I did think it was great on its own!)
Regardless of this, I was seriously impressed by my new Billie razor. Not only is it super cute, but it exceeded my expectations when it came to its performance. No nicks and smooth legs, what else could I ask for? I’m so excited to use Billie razors moving forward and to not feel like I have to overpay for smooth skin.
Why Is The Billie Razor So Good?
I know what you might be thinking. It’s just a razor, how good could it actually be? I get it. Razors are nothing fancy but they can have a ton of attributes that make them either great or not so good. Let’s talk about why the Billie razor is so good.
The Blades
Billie razor blades contain 5 sharp blades which allow for an incredibly close, smooth shave. The blades are nickel-free, rust-free and are also made in America.
Ergonomic Handle
Fun fact: Billie actually partnered with top New York industrial designers to craft the nifty handle seen on their razor. It’s made with a lightweight resin and a matte rubber core to optimize grip, so no more slipping and sliding in the shower when you’re trying to shave.
This razor truly is the perfect mix between style and functionality. The fact that you can pick between 6 different colors is also so much fun!
The Cost
You can purchase the starter kit for $10 and then you’re delivered 4 new razors, whenever you’d like, for only $10. Doesn’t get any better than that.
How Long Does A Billie Razor Last?
How long your Billie razor lasts is going to be up to how often you like to shave and also your hair growth. Personally, I shave 1-2x a week and change my razor once a month (I set a reminder in my phone so I don’t forget).
Billie suggests changing your blade every 7 shaves, which equals to about how often I shave per month.
Billie Shave Cream Review
Alright, let’s jump into my Billie Shave Cream review.
The Shave Cream ($8) is made from a mixture of shea butter and olive oil. It is NOT foam. It comes out in a creamy substance and goes smoothly on the legs (or wherever you’re shaving!) Plus, a little goes a long way.
Like I mentioned above, I didn’t love using the Shave Cream with the Billie razor as it made for a goopy mess. So I’ll be skipping out on the Shave Cream on my next order. But for those who are interested, keep reading to see if it may work for you!
Is Billie Shave Cream Clean?
Billie Shave Cream is “as clean as it gets”, meaning it is paraben-free, sulfate-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. Everything I love to hear from a brand!
What Does Billie Shave Cream Smell Like It?
Billie Shave Cream is very fresh and smells a little bit fruity (although I’m not sure why since there aren’t any fruit ingredients as far as I know). It’s definitely has a slight sage scent, but it’s not overpowering which I love.
Do You Need Shaving Cream With The Billie Razor?
As I mentioned above, I found that using shaving cream with my Billie razor made for a goopy, messy shave. I also have pretty thin hair, so I think the shaving cream would be better for someone with thicker hair.
For now, I plan to use the Shave Cream until it’s gone, or I plan to give it to a friend as I definitely don’t want to waste it. I wish it worked for me so bad! The formula is great, the scent is heavenly, and the way it made my legs feel afterward was pure perfection. I simply couldn’t deal with the goopy mess! But maybe it’ll be different for you, who knows. For $8, it’s worth a shot.
Are Billie Razors Good For Pubic Hair?
I tested Billie on my legs, armpits, and pubic area. The razor works just as great on pubic hair as it does on leg hair, armpit hair, etc. It truly doesn’t matter where you use the razor, it will work amazingly!
Fun fact: in 2019, Billie became the first razor ad to feature pubic hair in their ads. Hair is something we should not be ashamed of! It’s so important to treat your body hair however you want. Does Billie Charge Monthly?
It depends on how long you want your new razors delivered! You will be charged upon your original order and then you will be charged based on whichever reoccurring delivery time you chose.
You can choose between every one month, two months, or three months. Remember, you will pay $10 for 4 razors (a freakin’ steal)! Unless you’re shaving multiple areas, every day or every other day, you’re probably good to subscribe to two or three months (I chose three since I only shave 1-2x a week).
How Long Does It Take For Billie Razors To Ship?
Billie orders will typically arrive within 4-7 business days. My order actually arrived in 3 days!
Billie offers free shipping on all orders over $15 and on all razor and wipes subscriptions. For any other orders, the shipping is $4.

Billie makes some amazing charitable contributions. Since the company was founded, Billie has donated 1% of its revenue to support a variety of causes. At the time of this article, they are partnering with Every Mother Counts, YWCA, and Black Girls Code.
Billie has also contributed to a number of nonprofits that support Black and AAPI communities including Black Lives Matter, NAACP, and Stop AAPI Hate, just to name a few.

Are Billie Razors Worth It?
Yes, yes & YES! I cannot recommend Billie enough, especially for busy people like myself who never remember when to buy a new razor. Moving forward, I’ll only be purchasing the razor refills instead of any more Shave Cream, but I’m definitely going to check out their other products! I have my eye on their Floof Dry Shampoo, so keep an eye out for a review on that.
