Everlane Glove Boot ReKnit: An Honest Review

by Hailey
February 18, 2022

Everlane Glove Boot

I’m so excited to bring this review to you! I’ve been an Everlane fan for years and have always been intrigued by their boots because not only are they super cute, but they’re sustainable. I finally purchased the pair I’ve had my eyes on for a while, the Everlane Glove Boot in ReKnit ($130).

I’ve been looking for a new pair of boots that require no “break-in” time. As someone who lives in a walking city, it’s important I won’t kill my feet for the sake of some cute shoes! That’s why I love Everlane so much because their products are incredibly practical.

However, just because I love the brand doesn’t mean I won’t be brutally honest with this review. I promise to give you every nitty-gritty detail of these boots and answer all of your burning questions. Let’s get into it.

Note from Hailey

Hi friends, here’s a quick update for you! I wrote this article back in late 2020 when I bought these boots. I’ve since worn my Everlane Glove Boots countless times and they are one of the most trusty pairs of boots in my wardrobe. However, since purchasing, Everlane has revamped their Glove Boot selection and unfortunately, the color I purchased isn’t available anymore.

However, I’ve updated this article to feature their new colors, along with some new styles and details about these boots! Anywhere you see the “2022 update” is where you can find new information about these awesome boots. Keep reading for more!

Initial Thoughts

Okay, so I’m writing this section in real-time as I unbox the package.

My initial thoughts are yassssssss!. The boots are super cute and the color is fantastic, it’s exactly what I wanted. I purchased my glove boots in the color “Cumin” which is the perfect neutral color for my wardrobe because I can basically wear them with anything. FYI, the pictures I’ve posted in this article have a slight filter on them (nothing dramatic), but keep reading to see the true color.

2022 Update: Since Cumin is completely sold out at the time of this article, I recommend checking out Toffee for a mildly similar color. The tone is a little warmer than Cumin, but still super cute!

Touching the boots, you can absolutely feel the quality. Is it anything revolutionary? If you’re used to buying cheap boots, then yes! But if you’ve purchased higher quality boots, then no. Overall, they’re definitely high-quality boots which I appreciate. It’s clear to me that if it’s not high quality, Everlane won’t sell it.

My only initial hesitations with these boots are that I’m not entirely sure if they’re practical for me. After seeing them in person, I’m worried about the wear and tear NYC will bring upon them. Since my major form of transportation is walking, I’m concerned that these boots won’t be able to withstand NYC streets.

I’m toggling with the idea of exchanging them for the black color so they won’t get as dirty but I have so many black boots. So as of right now, I’m not sure how I feel about the lifespan of the boot and if it’s worth the price. This is definitely something you should consider if you live in a big city like me.

Update: The original color I purchased has held up IMMENSELY with the wear and year of NYC streets. They’re worn, but still, look great. I sometimes scuff them on accident when I’m walking, which I clean up with my trusty Tide To Go pen.

Are Everlane Glove Boots Comfortable?

If there’s anything the Everlane Glove Boots are, it’s comfortable. I think that’s kind of the point of the glove-style boot. This is perfect for someone like me who is constantly walking around the city.

They are also very easy to walk in. I am pigeon-toed and have bad knees so sometimes walking in heels is more uncomfortable than it should be, which is why I typically opt for sneakers or a shorter heel.

Update: I haven’t had any major discomfort wearing these shoes. If I wear them for an extensive period of time and am mostly standing, my feet will definitely start to feel a bit of discomfort. I usually will put a pair of comfy insoles into the sole of the shoe, which helps tremendously.

Is the Everlane Glove Boot True To Size?

I can confirm that Everlane’s Glove Boot fits true to size. I ordered a 7 and it fit perfectly. No complaints!

One thing that I was mildly worried about was if the opening of the boot wouldn’t be too loose on my ankles/calves so it wouldn’t look like I was swimming in the boots. I’m happy to say that they fit just fine around my ankles/calves. So if this is something you’re worried about, don’t be!

What Are Everlane Glove Boots Made Of?

Everlane’s Glove Boots are made of a cool fabric called ReKnit. What is ReKnit fabric? It is a fabric made from 9 renewed water bottles. Yup, you read that right. You’re wearing water bottles on your feet and, do they look good or what?!

If you’ve read my blog or know me, you know that I do my best to shop sustainably. Am I perfect? No. But I do my best. And Everlane is, in my opinion, a great brand where you can practice sustainability. If you want to buy some boots you feel good about, then these are the boots for you.

What Colors Do The Everlane Glove Boot Come In?

Update: At the time of writing this article in 2020, the Everlane Glove Boot came in a whopping 9 colors. Currently, in 2022, they sell 3. This might be a little surprising, but as someone who has worked in the fashion industry for 8+ years, it’s important to know that sometimes there are tough decisions to make around underperforming colors/styles which is likely the reason why they cut down on some colors.

It’s clear that Everlane decided to stick with neutral tones. Which, if you think about the values of Everlane as a sustainable company promoting a minimalist wardrobe, it makes sense.

At the time of this article in 2022, the Everlane Glove boot comes in 3 colors. Black, Toffee, and Bone which you can see below.

These Glove Boots colors are extremely versatile and are the perfect neutral option for everyone, no matter your style. Also, these are the exact colors that are perfect for anyone wanting to build a minimalist wardrobe.

As I mentioned above, I ordered my boots in Cumin which is a great neutral option for any outfit but since they don’t offer this color anymore, I recommend checking out Toffee.

The High Ankle Glove Boot

Update: Since this article, there’s been a new Glove Boot style in town! Please know I have not purchased these bad boys yet, but by the end of updating this article, I guarantee they’ll be in my cart ready to check out because I might be a little in love.

The High Ankle Glove Boot ($140) is made from the same ReKnit fabrics but with a new style, that sits on your calf rather than your ankle. This boot has rave reviews with individuals stating how comfortable and flattering they are.

The High Ankle Glove Boot comes in the colors Toffee, Caper Green, and Black which you can see below. I’m definitely buying the Caper Green pair, I’m obsessed.

The Final Verdict

Alright, let’s get into my final verdict of Everlane’s Glove Boots in ReKnit.

2022 Update: I still LOVE these boots! I hope they come out with more colors soon. In the meantime, I’ll be waiting for my High Ankle Pair to come in the mail.

The style of the boot is fantastic. It’s classic and incredibly versatile. I also love the colors Everlane offers with these boots. There’s definitely a pair for everyone.

These boots are incredibly comfortable and fit my feet perfectly. The sizing is on point and they’re super easy to walk in.

Where I’m a little hesitant is in regards to the practicality of them. If you like in the suburbs and drive wherever you go, I wouldn’t worry about these boots getting beat up. But if you live in a major city, like me, I would definitely consider whether they’re worth you potentially damaging them from all the walking you do. However, after thinking about it, I don’t think this is a make or break, especially since they’re a great price for such high-quality boots.

I hope this helped you out if you were debating on buying these boots. I personally think they are cute boots at a good price that you can feel good about purchasing. Therefore, I recommend you buy them.

Any more questions about the boots? Feel free to message me here. Other than that, I hope you enjoyed this review, and thanks so much for taking the time to read it!

With love or whatever,

Hello from NYC! So glad to hear these boots are comfy to walk around in the city 🙂 I love the black color and the glove-fitted look could be super leg-lengthening. Thanks for sharing this helpful review on the product! I also blog about sustainable fashion (along with a bit of textile science), so always appreciate the added detail about materials.
